Harris Family
Sponsors Habitat House
Habitat for Humanity
of High Point, Archdale and Trinity is proud to announce that
Darrell and Stella Harris, owners of FumitureLand South, are
sponsoring the house at 328 West Point Avenue in High Point. This is
their first project with Habitat funded by The Darrell and Stella
Harris Family Donor Advised Fund. This home will be built for Htun
Family.
Susan Wood,
Executive Director of Habitat High Point, is looking forward to a
productive partnership with the Harris family. "The Harris family is
so filled with joy and love for one another, it is wonderful that
they choose to partner with Habitat to express their commitment to
family and our High Point Community."
FumitureLand South
employees are donating their time building the house throughout the
summer, working along side the homeowners and other volunteers. Yel
Lin Htun, father of the family to receive this home, has been
busily completing his sweat equity hours.
Along with his wife, San
San Cho, and their two children, Yel fled political persecution in
Myanmar (Burma). Because of his fight to bring democracy and human
rights standards to his country, Yel was forced to flee to Thailand to
avoid arrest, or worse. After years of unrest and uncertainty, the
United States granted him and his family political asylum.
With the
guidance of The High Point Community Foundation, the Harris's
established the fund to sponsor community projects. "The Harris family
feels that God has blessed them and that High Point has also been very
good to them and they want to give back in a meaningful and substantial
manner," says Paul Lessard, Foundation President.
The house at 328 West
Point Avenue is currently under construction. |
